Little Buddhist Devotees, Wachirawit Chiang Mai School

Wachirawit School, Chiang Mai – Kindergarten Department, held a “Little Buddhists” Oath Ceremony for Kindergarten 3 students on September 15, 2025. The purpose of the event was to instill in young children a lifelong awareness of their identity as Buddhists, and to cultivate moral values and faith in Buddhism from an early age.

The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Woratat Bunkhot, the School Director, as the lay representative, and Venerable Phra Somchat Intapanyo from Wat Chai Mongkhon, who led the religious proceedings. During the event, students formally declared themselves as Buddhists and were presented with Buddhamamaka Certificates as a symbol of their spiritual commitment.

During the ceremony, a student representative led the school administrators, teachers, parents, and fellow students in Buddhist chants and rituals.
The student’s graceful and respectful conduct during the ceremony was highly commendable and left a positive impression on both the attending monks and parents.

The term “Buddhamamaka” refers to a person who has accepted the Buddha as their spiritual refuge.
Therefore, the Buddhamamaka Declaration Ceremony signifies a formal affirmation by the individual that they are followers of Buddhism—taking the Buddha, the Dhamma (the Buddha’s teachings), and the Sangha (the monastic community) as their highest ideals and spiritual refuge.
